RISK TOURNEY 09! was a smashing success. 4 table winners from the morning session vied for the title; Grand Champion (bragging rights & $200 bones richer). Mid afternoon, local gamer Craig Rice won his second game of the day. Congratulations to Craig, & all other winners… pics to be posted shortly!

The Cut off has passed for Early Bird Prizes. All those who registered up to midnight last night will be in the draw. Winners will be announced at RISK TOURNEY 09! This Saturday.

A great boost for the Tourney; both the Medicine Hat Shopper & the Medicine Hat News ran articles supporting our RISK TOURNEY! Much thanks for that coverage. Print media has stepped up, the web has stepped up, it’s time for the radio media to give RISK TOURNEY 09! some much appreciated attention. The Tourney is next Saturday – December 5th, 2009. Here is the link for the manual we will be referring to for the risk tournament. It would be a good idea to study up before the big day. It has been suggested that we play “Capital Risk” to encourage shorter play. The “Capital Risk” variation has players choose a capital city, conquer 3 capital cities to win the game. What do you think?

Every player donates a minimum of $20.00 to the Santa Claus Fund. In return, the Fund issues a tax deductible receipt. 100% of all player donations go directly to the Santa Claus Fund. Everyone can win door prizes. Prize for early bird registrations.

Each individual game winner (odds of winning at least one in six) will receive;

• Official RISK TOURNEY 09 Certificate of Congratulations
• Your picture on the internet to show all your friends and co-workers
• Entry into winners draw for special gifts, games & prizes

Media Release – RISK TOURNEY 09

This Christmas, help our local Santa Claus Fund make this Christmas special for families in need throughout Medicine Hat & area. Please consider supporting RISK TOURNEY 09!

A local group of board game fans will meet Saturday, December 5th,^, 2009 at the Cultural Centre, with a single goal: play Risk & help the world, one game at a time!

So far, supporters have generously donated the logo design you see here, this website and the online registration form soon to be released. A press release will also go out to local & area media on October 27th,^, 2009, but we still need your help.

Become a ‘Table Sponsor’ for RISK TOURNEY 09 for only $120 (cash and/or prizes), and let’s tell the entire community about this event, your dedication and your support of this local fundraiser.

In return, your company will receive:

• Your name &/or logo on all printed media before/during or after the event

Support Letter – RISK TOURNEY 09 (PDF)

We are thinking about RISK TOURNEY 09. A lot. Tonight (October 26, 2009) we send our first wave of ‘Support Letters’; providing opportunities to support the Santa Claus fund and provide gifts & prizes for our humble little tournament. Folks in Medicine Hat have big hearts. Then tomorrow morning (October 27, 2009) we send out our ‘Press Release’; not only do we want to maximize the number of TOURNEY players we get for December 5th, we will also do our best to raise the Santa Claus Fund profile in and around Medicine Hat. This next week is going to be busy, and we haven’t even begun to debate the Rules Set we will use for the TOURNEY (that is for another post).

Game for good is an idea that gamers can get together have a great time and help a charity out at the same time.  This website for now will house information on the upcoming Risk tournament for the Santa Claus Fund.  In the future we hope to bring this style of gaming to a much larger audience.

We believe you can have fun and make the world a better place at the same time.
